Shubh Vivah Muhurat 2027: which months have wedding dates, and which do not

Hindu wedding dates in 2027 fall in three windows: mid January to mid March, mid April to early July, and mid November to mid December. Chaturmas and the two Kharmas periods block the rest of the year.

The three gaps, explained

Most people looking for a muhurat are really asking why their preferred month has no dates in it. There are three reasons, and they repeat every year.

  • Chaturmas. From Devshayani Ekadashi in Ashadha to Devuthani Ekadashi in Kartik, roughly July to early November, Vishnu is said to rest and auspicious ceremonies pause. This is the longest gap in the year.
  • Kharmas in Dhanu. From about 16 December until Makar Sankranti in mid January, while the Sun transits Sagittarius.
  • Kharmas in Meen. From about 14 March until mid April, while the Sun transits Pisces.
  • Adhik Maas. An extra lunar month inserted roughly every 32 months. When it falls, the weddings in that month move. Check whether one falls in your year before fixing anything.

Why the November to December weeks are so crowded

Chaturmas ends in early November, which releases four months of held back weddings into six weeks. The Confederation of All India Traders estimated about 46 lakh weddings in the November to December 2025 season alone.

That is why venues, photographers and caterers are booked a year ahead for those weeks, and why invitations for that season go out far earlier than couples expect.

What this means for your invitations

Work backwards from the muhurat. Save the date goes out as soon as the date is fixed, often six months ahead for a November wedding. The invitation itself goes out four to six weeks before, and replies close about two weeks before, when the caterer needs the number.

If the muhurat shifts after you have invited people, that is the one moment a printed card becomes expensive and a live link costs nothing. You change the time and every guest who opens the link sees the new one.

Confirm the day itself with a panchang

The windows above are structural and stable. The exact auspicious days inside them depend on the tithi, the nakshatra and your family's tradition, and they differ between the North Indian and South Indian calendars.

Take the window from this page, then take the day from your family priest or your regional panchang. Anyone publishing an exact list without saying that is guessing.
